Prayer for a beautiful day

Thank you Creator for life, and for such a beautiful day on this planet! I am thankful for the many blessings I have. May we humans become loving and responsible stewards to your creations as soon as possible. Amen.

Full Moon Tonight! Milk Moon! Mid-Spring

Get ready…the full moon is coming tonight! Maybe that’s why I felt a bit “off” today….hmm.

It has been said that the moon exerts an influence on humans. Apparently crime goes up and so do accidents.

Tonight it (“she”) will be in all of it’s glory, so hopefully we’ll have clear skies to enjoy the view.

This month’s moon is the mid-Spring moon, also known as the Milk Moon, Flower Moon, Corn Planting Moon, Corn Moon, Hare’s Moon, Buddha Poornima and even Vesak Poya!

Andy Warhol Foundation offers writers $30,000 grants

Pop Icon Andy Warhol left behind a legacy not only of art, but of support for the arts.

If you write about the arts, then this grant may be for you. There are several categories of writing that are funded including: articles, blogs, books, new and alternative media and short-form writing.

Someone in the States can apply to this. I can’t as a Canadian, so I wanted to pass it along.

The deadline to apply is June 7, 2010.

David Lynch Dior "Lady Blue" Le Poem ad online

David Lynch is one of my favourite filmmakers, and a true artist, I think.  This new short film/promo spot for Dior brings back memories of Dune (with the straight-on voice over to camera and the tone of it, too). It’s a dreamy piece, with some of Lynch’s leitmotifs:  atmospheric rock n’ roll and dancing, a beautiful woman, red curtains, suspense, beautiful rooms and otherworldly visual effects.

It’s interesting to see the amount of creative input Lynch put into this. He’s the writer, director, one of the camera operators, one of the composers and the editor! A filmmaker after my own heart! What fun! What a joy to experience work like this, that shines so strongly with Lynch’s signature style!

See what he does with this ad, turning it into a piece of art:

New promo video for my upcoming film on Goth

I just finished editing this short promo for my upcoming feature-length documentary (Gothumentary) about the Goth subculture GOTH:insideOUT. This video features S.I.N.S. Gothic Punk Fashions. See http://GOTHinsideOUT.com for more.

Miles Davis – So What

I think one of my favourite Miles Davis tracks is So What from Kind of Blue.  He’s got so many songs I like.  He’s another one of the Jazz/music legends I had the fortune to see play live.

Sun Ra and his Arkestra

I was able to see a live performance of Sun Ra and his Arkestra a few years back. Though he was in a wheelchair for most of the time, Sun Ra still shone (hard not to in those groovy outfits!). It was great to be able to shake his hand.

Here’s a video of him on stage in Japan…looks like a good time.

My Videoblog – Jan. 2010 snowstorm!

My Videoblog – February 2010 In The Beaches
